Another delightful short in the Amazon Originals “Meet Cute” series. Second Act Romance is a sweet, fast-paced theatre-set romance that hits all the right notes for fans of feel-good, second-chance love stories. Julie Soto delivers charm and chemistry in compact form — and while it’s brief, it never feels empty. The story follows two musical theatre actors whose paths cross again under chaotic, backstage circumstances. It’s full of witty banter, theatrical mishaps, and that delicious tension between “what we once had” and “what might still be possible.” Soto’s characters are engaging and relatable, and the theatre world setting adds a lively, immersive touch that makes the short format feel surprisingly rich. What I appreciated most was how Second Act Romance balances heart and humor without dragging — a difficult feat in such a concise tale. It’s an especially welcome entry in the Meet Cute lineup, and in my view it outshines other entries in the series (especially the Halloween-themed stories) with its stronger emotional payoff and fun, romantic energy. If you’re in the mood for a quick romantic escape that still leaves a smile, this one’s worth the read.
