Very well written and emotional!

A bit slow at first, but the story soon picks up speed. I am not a big romance reader (and would have probably never picked this book up if I hadn't had to read it for a university course), but this is much more than just a quickly burning love affair. "The King's Witches" is a feminist retelling of James' and Anna's first months of marriage - troubled by superstitious believes in witchcraft and political troubles. The women are deeply connected, their characters dimensional. I felt so much empathy for Jura, but also for Anna and Kirsten, for they suffer a great deal as well. I recommend this to everyone who enjoys a historical novel that focuses on a female perspective, with depth and emotion, and a gripping yet descriptive writing style!
