Sweet vibes, low stakes, lower steam.
Josiah is genuinely a great book boyfriend, big, broody, protective, and once he falls, he falls hard and the grumpy sunshine dynamic with Audrey is cozy enough to carry the first half easily. the Tilikum world has that warm found-family energy. But here’s my issue: this reads more like a mystery than a romance , and for a book marketed on the slow burn, the actual romance development is barely there. Their whole first time together is wrapped up in about a paragraph with zero tension or buildup . like we spent all that time waiting and then… that’s it?? the stalker plotline is fine but not exactly edge-of-your-seat stuff. A perfectly pleasant read, just don’t go in expecting heat or intensity. it’s firmly Hallmark channel with a hint of suspense.
