This book was a sweet small town romance, that I think fans of Elsie Silver will really enjoy! You get immaculate cowboy small town vibes, with some best friends older brother and second chance romance thrown in for the angst and feelings. We follow the female lead Marigold, called Mare, on her way back to her home town. She’s a writer and finally coming back home after the death of her best friends mom. Inevitably, she also crosses paths with said best friends big brother again. Also known as the love of her live. The one that broke her heart. Whilst the male main character was a bit too much of a simp for my liking, I’m sure many readers will enjoy him! I just don’t have it in me to fall for the golden retriever boyfriends, so I’m not head over heels for him. Prepare for a big bucket of pining, friendship and longing. A good swoop of emotions and healing journeys. And a cup or two of spice. Perfect read for all my Elsie Silver cowboys and -girls and the second chance loving ones, that enjoy a bit of heartbreak whilst reading. 3
