Immerhin heißt es nicht umsonst: Never change a running team.

Character development? Yes, please!

This book has two amazing tropes - rivals to lovers plus enemies with benefits and on top of that snarky banter AND super good spice?! Say less! 🤭 I really really liked this book, and the main reason is the relationship development between Oak and Quinn. They started off not liking each other at all but throughout their enemies with benefits “contract” their relationship slowly shifted in something really beautiful. Not only did their relationship change but they also started to learn more about the other person and realised that the picture they both had from each other was something completely different from what they expected! The way they slowly opened up to each other was truly beautiful and made the story even better! 💗 I also loved the fact that Quinton never questioned his sexuality or his attraction for Oakley, because it’s really nice to have characters where their sexuality is not in the main focus of events and is basically just a side factor that does not influence the relationship between the two main characters (does that make sense hahaha?!)- definitely big plus point for that as well! 👏🏻 If you like hockey romances with little drama but an amazing love story then you should check out this book 🩵

Ice Hockey Rivals to Lovers

Another one that is hard to rate because it took me a while to get into, and I had some complaints, but the later half of the book was soo good, their chemistry well written, and also really good smut 🤭 I settled for 4☆ but it could be slightly higher and I will definitely read the other books in the series at some point. So, this is about Oakley and Quinton. Rivals on opposing teams in high school, now teammates in university, and they hate each other. Constantly taunting each other until one night, they go too far and... end up hooking up? Weirdly enough, their next game goes way better than the ones before, and as athletes, they are pretty superstitious about these things. So maybe they should keep this going 👀 I don't want to compare too much, but in the beginning, I felt like I had already read a story like this, and well, the plot is really similar to "Egotistical Puckboy", but I have to say I liked this one way more 😅 It took a bit to get into though. Before their hook-ups started, they were constantly getting mad at each other for nothing and weren't very likable, especially Quinton. That changed afterward when getting more context and background on the characters. I'd say I liked them the same amount in the end 😌 The middle was a bit weird, with immaculate smut and chemistry on one hand, but not much outside of it. It felt like only those two characters existed. Not really any interactions with friends, the hockey games were never described in detail anyway (just the one at the end, a bit), so you just heard if they won or lost (or if there was a fight on the ice), and the world felt a bit empty. On the other hand, that might have been on purpose, showing how they only saw each other and not much around them. The roommates also mentioned this, but I'd still have liked a bit more interaction with them (especially since they will be main characters in the other books), like with that drama in the end. A typical 3rd act break-up I could smell from a mile away and knew exactly what would cause it 😅 Still, it was well done and emotional. None of these complaints are anything big. Another thing I wanted to mention were the little time skips. Often, there would be days or weeks going by where apparently nothing happened. It just felt a bit sudden sometimes. This is also where I wanted more interaction with side characters. Like, how did their dynamic in the team/games change after hooking up? It obviously did, but somehow, nobody noticed or said anything. I don't even know who was on the team (like out of the roommates. I think not everyone played hockey idk). We also don't know much about those 4 years before. Well, other than that, I liked the time skips because if nothing happens, I don't need to read about it, and even though the book might be a bit long for a romance, it didn't feel too long or dragged out. I feel like I complained a lot, but I promise I did really like it, I just sometimes need to yap about details I noticed 😂 It was a great rivals to lovers uni romance, with lots of spice, a queer awakening, and good chemistry ❤️

✅ Rivals-to-lovers ✅ Easy to read ✅ Loveable characters ✅ 🔥 ✅ Lighthearted but with nice amounts of angst ❌ Confusing time jumps that left a lot of feeling and plot out ❌ Lacked depth when it came to feelings ❌ A lot of similarities to the CU hockey Series by Eden Finley and Saxon James

I’m Iced IN!

What can I say? I think there is not a single book by ce ricci I don‘t love so I knew from the beginning it‘s gonna be a really fucking good one. And it didn’t disappoint. It’s amazingly written. She just has the power to put the emotion so well in place and to describe the chemistry between two people- you‘re hooked up from the start and won‘t put it down until you‘ve read the whole thing in one night! I’m normally not into ice hockey love storys, but this caught me. It's also easy to read if you don't have any knowledge about the sport. I absolutely recommend, like every other book from the author! <3
