Sarinas Bücher sind schön, leichte Lektüren zum Zurücklehnen und Genießen. Mit einer kleinen Prise Spannung und auch mal einen Hauch Spice. Eine gute Mischung, um in das Buch zu versinken und den Alltag zu vergessen. Sarina schafft Figuren zum lieb haben. Die Thematik ähnelt sich in ihren Hockey-Büchern durchaus sehr. Es macht meinen persönlichen Lesespaß aber keinen Abbruch. Ich erfahre gerne über die Leben und der inneren Zerrissenheit der neuen Protagonisten in anderen Blickwinkeln und Umgebungen

Ich weiß nicht, inwieweit diese Geschichte die Realität abbildet, aber da sich nur wenige männliche Sportler outen mag was dran sein. Unter dem Aspekt hat mir das richtig gut gefallen, ich konnte die Situation gut nachvollziehen. Das Ende hätte ich mir ausführlicher, ausgearbeiteter gewünscht.

The New Guy being the second book of hers I have read. Interestingly enough, it was my first time reading an M/M romance. I honestly didn’t know what to expect, but I went into the story with an open mind and hoping for the best. I ended up enjoying it more than I had expected. The New Guy introduces Hudson Newgate and Gavin Gillis. Hudson spent most of his pro- hockey career traded from one team to another. Because of this, he is always known as the ‘new guy.’ His most recent trade placed him in Brooklyn, playing for the Brooklyn Bruisers. Hudson believes his first trade occurred because of his decision to reveal his bi-sexuality to the team’s management. His father, who is also his agent, convinced him of this and encourages him to keep his head down and his bi-sexuality a secret until the right time. He never expected to meet the one person who will test his boundaries and have him yearning for the chance of a happily ever after. Gavin mourns the loss of his husband, who died tragically two years ago, leaving him to single-handedly care for their seven-year-old daughter, Jordyn. Seeking a fresh start, he takes the job as an athletic trainer for the Brooklyn Bruisers. His focus: settle Jordyn in school, start his new job, and deal with an antagonistic mother-in-law. These, along with the fact he still misses his husband, leaves him no time for relationships. However, an unexpected encounter with the sexy defenseman for the Brooklyn Bruisers opens the door to the possibility of finding love once again. I enjoyed getting to know both characters. One could feel the blistering chemistry between Hudson and Gavin from their first meeting. They couldn’t deny it. However, Hudson needed to move past some issues in his personal life before considering a serious relationship. He wants to be with Gavin, but these issues held him back from making a commitment. Because of this, he blew hot and cold, resulting in heartbreaking moments for Gavin. The conflict he feels concerning his desire to live his life the way he wants as against what societal norms dictate flowed from the pages of the book. He lived a life of loneliness and avoided forming friendships out of fear. Fear ruled his life and governed most of his actions. Unlike Hudson, Gavin displayed confidence in his sexuality. Gavin struggles with grief while helping his daughter to handle her own loss. The manipulative actions of his mother-in-law helped to compound his struggles. I loved how he stood up to her.   Although their attraction to each other occurred instantly, their romance fell into the category of slow burn. They encountered many roadblocks and bumps throughout the development of their romance. The journey may have been rocky, but the outcome was perfect. In the end, I enjoyed all aspects of The New Guy. and I look forward to the next book in the series. Wie schön und rührend die Geschichte von Gavin & Hunter doch war… Gavin ist allein erziehender Vater der kleinen Jordan, sein Ehemann ist vor längerer Zeit tödlich verunglückt. Er kommt als Physiotherapeut neu nach Brooklyn und begegnet noch vor seinem ersten Arbeitstag Hunter, der auch grade nach Brooklyn, allerdings als Eishockeyspieler , gewechselt ist, in einer Bar. Sofort funkt es bei beiden. Doch als sie gemeinsam nach Hause wollen, bemerken sie, dass sie im selben Haus wohnen und das killt plötzlich die Stimmung. Gavin, Der seiner Tochter nicht den ONS vorstellen will, und das wird kaum machbar wenn sie nebeneinander wohnen, und Hunter, der nicht geoutete Spieler, der kein Risiko eingehen will. Doch wie lange können sie sich aus dem Weg gehen, wenn Gavin doch Hunter schon beruflich wegen seiner Hüfte täglich bearbeiten muss damit dieser wieder spieltauglich für seine Mannschaft wird….

Was soll ich dazu sagen? Gavin und Hudson sind so umwerfend zusammen! Ich liebe die Geschichten von Sarina einfach und bisher habe ich noch niemanden sonst gelesen, der Gay Romance so großartig schreibt wie sie. 🥰 Absolute Empfehlung - auch auf Englisch sind ihre Bücher kein Problem, wie ich finde. ☺️

Was machst du wenn du als ungeouteter bisexueller Eishockey Profi in der neuen Stadt deines neuen Vereins eines Abends in einer Bar einen tollen Kerl aufgabelst und dann auf dem Weg zu deiner Wohnung mit ihm feststellst, dass dieser Kerl nicht nur dein neuer Nachbar ist, sondern auch noch der neue Physiotherapeut deines Teams? Hudson entscheidet sich für die Variante "Kopf in den Sand stecken und so tun, als wäre nie was gewesen". Geht natürlich nicht lange gut denn erstens sind die beiden ja nun Nachbarn und Gavin legt jeden Tag Hand an Hudsons Verspannungen und Verletzungen. Ich liebe die beiden Männer sehr. Gavin, der als alleinerziehender Vater nach dem Tod seines Mannes auch sehr vorsichtig geworden ist was Männer angeht und seine Tochter Jordyn sind ein Traumgespann. Besonders die kleine Jordyn ist einfach zuckersüß. Sie spielt ein ums andere Mal die Kupplerin zwischen den beiden. Aber vor allem die Geschichte von Gavin und Hudson an sich hat unglaublich viel Spaß gemacht. Dass es zu vielen Wiedersehen aus der Brooklyn Years Reihe kommt, ist natürlich das Sahnehäubchen. Schön, dass man die Jungs auch nochmal wiedersieht. Mich hat die Geschichte total gepackt, ich bin schwer verliebt in die beiden. Auch wenn ich Hudson an der einen Stelle wirklich gern die Ohren lang gezogen hätte. Aber das gehört dazu. Die Geschichte ist lustig, sexy, emotional und auch ein bisschen dramatisch. Sports Romance at its best...mehr geht nicht. Von mir gibt es eine klare Leseempfehlung. LG Tanja
