A little better than the first book
SPOILERS The second book of this series is definitely better than the first one, but just like in the first book, the forced pregnancy bothered me here, too. I hate pregnancy in books, and it's just not my trope, but each their own. The female main character (Ellery) has more depth than the FMC in the first book. Ellery has gone through a lot and works really hard for her goals. She definitely is not lost for words and doesn't let things get to her. She doesn't take shit from anybody. The male main character (Beckett) also has some depth, and we get to know more about his background and childhood. During the book, I noticed some kind of change of his character, and if you compare how he was at the start of the book vs. at the end, he definitely changed a lot. First time he let someone get close to him and he would do anything for Ellery, especially to keep her safe. The tension between both of them is sooo good. The story is great. How she finds friend and quickly conects with them all (tbh I shipped her a little bit with Grave, lol). The disappearance of the students and what happened with them was something I really did not expect. It had me hooked. Like I said, forced pregnancy is not it (at least for me), but at least Beckett had worried about what it means to be a father (not like the MMC in the first book).
