Jia is Abbey (from book 1)'s friend. She is a mechanic on the space station and she is assigned to help repaire the Kordolian ship when it's damaged and the Kordolians basically take over Fortuna Tau. When Tarrak and Abbey leave because Abbey is hurt, the whole team of Kordolians is left on the space station to get rid of the Xargek, those huge insectoid alien who eat people whole. This one was sweet, I liked Jia, she was strong, she had real skills. I liked the little world building details like the Spike and stuff which made the story seem real. I liked Kalan, too he was good as far as strong, brooding males go. But I didn't manage to get into this one as much as the first one. I can't really pin point why, all I know is that by the time they left the Space Station, so the 60% mark I beleive, I was skimming more than reading and I didn't care anymore. Which is sad because I can't really tell why and it's not like it's a long book. I think it might be because of the amount of Insect fight scenes? I don't know.
