Probably one of the best novels Tad Williams wrote so far. An Angel as main character, named Bobby Dollar? Uggh. Yeah, I was doubtful since I'm not a religious person... Well, this book is awesome! I love the characters, whether demons or angels, I love the setting and I love how Tad Williams handled the "religious stuff". The story is fast (other than Tad Williams fantasy stories) and cool. Fun. Action. Mystery. Suspense. Conspiracy. You should read it, really
I enjoyed a lot of the first half of the book, i used to read some of Tad Williams books some years ago and remember i enjoyed them a lot. Somehow this was not as good as i hoped it was. Everything was a tiny bit cliché and i could not really get into the characters. Esp. Bobbys relationship with Caz was something i did not enjoy at all. The demon Caz who later turned out to be a 'typical' damsel in distress, coming from abusive relationships and then i guess, getting into another one: Despite her saying no to Bobby at one point, Bobby pushes her into a sexual relationship, instead of coming up with anything useful to help her. Dick move, Bobby! I was quite disappointed. It really just did not look like anything healthy for Caz. I finished it anyway because there were some things i did enjoy. I just could not really understand the attraction Bobby had to Caz and the sudden love-story. Still debating wether i wanna read more of this or not.
