This book has easily become one of my favorites. I normally don't read fantasy, especially pirate stories, but I gave it a go because of the romance aspect and the promised asexual ☔ representation - this was such a good decision. I'm in love with the main characters, they are written in such a way that I won't stop rooting for them. As someone who identifies under the asexual umbrella, the representation was subtle but very realistic to me. The way Madeline Burget wrote the fight scenes, the characters, the settings were so amazing. I cried at the end, just for the fact that it was over and I want to read more of this story.

It's refreshing to read a book so well thought-out with characters who actually have complicated relationships. The betrayal in this story is magnificent. I tried to predict it but the author managed to notch it up one more. It was a little heavy on the miscommunication trope for my taste. Which is also the reason why didn't give it 5 stars. But it's still an amazing story
