Mochte die Charaktere und auch das Setting wurde super umgesetzt, auch die Protas haben Mega gut in die Story reingepasst. Großes Lob auch an die Autorin für die absolut subtile und poetische Erzählweise der Autorin. Am meisten mochte ich die französische Atmosphäre in dem Buch, was verleiht dem ganzen nochmal einen ganz anderen Charme, also echt wow! 🥹

OMG, how great was this retelling of the Phantom of the Opera? This book made me so addicted that I could hardly put it down. Things I liked: Sol Bordeaux: - I love him! Simple in his way and his actions were just perfect. Scarlett Day: - Great protagonist, even if I hate her for her blindness. I mean, everyone has hinted that there's more to New Orleans than just the drunken idiots on the street. She was also too naïve and believed Rand more than Sol, but otherwise I actually like her. Scarlett & Sol: - I think it's great how the original plots were included a bit, such as the two of them having secret contact with each other or him stalking them. I think it's great that the two of them accept each other, regardless of whether the other has bipolar disorder or any scars from the past. Jaime: - My favorite side character. This guy is a great best friend to Scarlett and I'm glad he made sure Scarlett and Sol got back together. Plot: - It was very great how there were always similarities with the original, but on the other hand it also became its own story. Things I hated: Rand: - Okay, wow, the last time I really absolutely hated a character was probably in the Shatter Me series. I mean, this guy here was suspicious to me from the beginning anyway, which was confirmed in the end. Monty: - Well, he's just a random side character who I hate. I definitely recommend anyone who feels like a retelling of the Phantom of the Opera and who likes to do bad boys.

Phantom of the Opera hat einen ganz besonderen Platz in meinem Herzen. Es ist mein absolutes Lieblingsmusical & ich weiß nicht wie viele verschiedene Versionen ich schon angeschaut habe - ich liebe es einfach. Und jetzt dachte ich halt, dass ich eventuell ein neues Lieblingsbuch gefunden haben könnte. Aaaaber so ist es leider nicht: Die Geschichte ist mehr eine Mafia-Lovestory. Die Charaktere sind (wie ich finde) recht einseitig beschrieben, bzw. gibt keine richtige Entwicklung. Die Gespräche waren ok, der Spice war sogar gar nicht schlecht. Es gibt ein paar Kapitel, die sehr ähnlich zum Musical sind und man sieht förmlich die Szenen vor Augen beim lesen, allerdings sind das nur wenige. Nicht falsch verstehen, es hat mir schon Spaß gemacht das Buch zu lesen. Ich hatte es auch recht schnell durch für meine Lesegeschwindigkeit. Meine Erwartungen an dieser Geschichte waren vielleicht ein kleines bisschen zu hoch. Es ist kein Meisterwerk, aber lesen kann man es natürlich trotzdem :)
