uff this was intense and painful and I LOVED IT. With the Summer series Elizabeth O‘Roark is testing how much emotional trauma she can put me through and how many tears I can cry reading a book. And what can I say? She’s absolutely doing an outstanding job at it. I absolutely love it. This book is my new favorite in the series so far. Will I read it again?? not sure. maybe not. Depends if I will ever emotionally recover enough to go through this a second time. Elizabeth O‘Roark definitely puts some kind of magic into her writing. That is the only explanation i have, for how she manages to make me love even what I thought is the most unlikable character ever. It took me a while, but eventually Kate and I became friends. Her journey was written so raw and beautifully and even though it was frustrating and I was angry with her a lot - it was also so real and we went with her through every struggle, step back and growth. And so worth it in the end. And Beck, oh oh. He is probably my new favorite mmc of hers. This book was angst and tension on a whole new level. Even for this series. It was frustrating and tough to read, but also such a great story. It’s not a secret anymore, that i am the biggest fan of Elizabeth’s writing and storytelling. And as usual she managed to write a beautiful story, that couldn’t have been executed better. The perfect slow pace that shows every development - steps forwards and backwards. Rewarding in the end. A bit ugly and emotional in between. Imperfect and real characters. I’ve cried a few tears, laughed some and felt deeply, maybe a bit too much, with Kate and Beck the entire time. Big yes from me! Everyone go run and read this! She just proved again - she’s one of my favorite authors for a damn reason! And if she isn’t on your radar yet, what are you even doing??? I feel like this woman can do no wrong. She’s done it all - from the hilarious rom coms to paranormal fantasy or sport romance. And we have yet to find the genre she CANT write. Angsty romances definitely is not the one. She has mastered it. 5
