Protecting You felt more like a longer prologue or novella than a full book, which makes sense since the second book continues Asher and Grace’s story. Even though it was short, it was still nice to get into their relationship and understand their history together. I thought it was really cute how they had known each other forever, growing up as best friends before eventually drifting apart. Watching them slowly find their way back to each other and realizing there had always been something more between them was honestly really heartwarming. Asher realizing that Grace was “it” for him and finally making a move was probably one of my favorite parts. That being said, because the book is only around 180 pages, it obviously couldn’t go super deep emotionally or story-wise. It still managed to include a pretty devastating and life-changing moment toward the end, which definitely made me curious for the next book. Overall, it was a quick and enjoyable read, but since it felt more like setup for what’s coming next, I’d give it around 3 stars.
