This story is about the devil who returns to earth after a long time. It is said that the show Lucifer is loosely based on these comics so I thought it might be interesting to read. Next to Lucifer, the main protagonist is the angel Gabriel, who has received the task of finding out who killed God. Again, I was impressed by Garbett's art. Everything looks so pretty! (I mean, except for the corpses and such.) At the beginning it was hard to get into the story. Of course, the mysterious aura is what defines the characters - after all, they are not human - but it made me feel distant from them. It was way easier to relate to the seemingly unrelated stories about humans. That might be on purpose, though. The whole comic has a dark atmosphere and shows murder or naked bodies. It felt right considering the themes and characters, even though I am personally not a fan of it. Some of the transitions or relations between the characters also felt a bit off to me. It is possible, though, that I am just missing information from the main comic, The Sandman, of which this volume is a spinn-off of. All in all, the plot is pretty interesting and I love the art style, if not the theme. Fans of the TV show Lucifer will probably enjoy this comic.
