Reread. Ann Patchett is always a hit or miss for me. This is hit! Read the book years ago and desperately wanted to read it again. Why aren't there more novels like this? Strong women in a kind of mystery- adventure -travel novel. Maybe the characters are unrealistic, flat or weird, maybe the story line is a bit crazy. I didn't mind. It sucked me right in again. I'd love to read more novels about scientists, anthropology, ethno-science, Sociology, rainforest, indiginious, medicinal science etc., packed in an adventure story. The perfect mix in my book. So please recommend me more novels like this one. Appreciated!
