Zuerst eine Triggerwarnung: Dieses Buch enthält frauenfeindliche Sequenzen. Ein Darkover-Roman der den Anfang schildert, aber erst nach anderen die später spielen geschrieben wurde. Die frauenfeindlichen Sequenzen sind mir im übrigen bei keinem Lesen vorher aufgefallen, allerdings hat sich bei mir auch einiges verändert.

An interesting introduction to a world I'd like to learn more about. The novel itself is nothing special, at best it reminded me of a more mediocre star trek episode. The characters were only mildly interesting, near the end some grew on me but in general they were not that complex. The whole story felt like a set up with no pay off (at least not in this book) and there could have been more to the ending. I also disagreed on some of the believes and opinions portrayed by the characters. However, the world itself was immensely interesting and I'm looking forward what this series has to offer next. I liked that the believes and plans of the characters were challenged, even though more time would have been needed to look deeper into these problems. I will definitely continue this series but would maybe not recommend this book as a place to start with it.
