A questionable review: 2,5 stars. I don't like short stories, but I love the world of Kate Daniels so much that I wanted to read more side-stories. In this one Kate meets Saiman for the first time, but unfortunately it didn't work to me. I was detached from both the events and the characters and Saiman is quite.. disturbing. I can stand him for just a short appearance, but not as a primary character. I still love Kate and her wittiness and I'm willing to read more novellas about her and other secondary characters *thinking of Andrea or Derek - cough cough*

Tolle Sammlung mit zwei Stand-Alone-Geschichten und 3 Kurzgeschichten aus der Welt von „Der Stadt der Finsternis“. „A Questionable Client“ ist die Vorgeschichte mit dem oft erwähnten ersten Zusammentreffen von Kate und Saiman. Außerdem taucht auch Mark von der Söldnergilde das erste mal auf. „Retribution Clause“ ist die schwächste Story in der Sammlung und zeigt ein Abenteuer von Saimans Cousin Adam. Sie löst das Rätsel um Saimans wahre Form (welches in der Serie erst im 3. Teil aufgelöst wird). „Magic Tests“ spielt nach dem 5. Teil und zeigt wie Julie einen Vermisstenfall an ihrer neuen Schule aufklärt und ich glaube sie trifft dabei auf den gleichen Drachen, den Jim und Dali in „Fluch der Magie“ kennengelernt haben.
