So good, fitting ending!
Careful - some spoilers ahead! I didn't think a book from a viewpoint that is mostly just a passive observer would be this interesting. There is less suffering, and a happy end that might not be what I wished for but feels very fitting, even realistic. The ending might feel somewhat anticlimactic because the big clash of the two cultures does not happen the way I thought it would. Similar to the realm of the elderlings, sometimes it's the small things you do that function like a catalyst for things you never thought could result from that. For a first-time Robin Hobb reader, I might even recommend this series. It's shorter than Fitz's story but still shows the excellent character-driven skills of Hobb.
