Love That Dog is a poetry book written by Sharon Creech. It's basically a tale written in prose form by a young boy named Jack. It's like reading a diary in many ways. This book surprisingly highlights the negative impact of pushing gender norms on kids. How it can substantially limit what they would be willing to take-up, learn and even get exposed to. The dog plot felt like an afterthought. This short book did not come across as poignant to me. I did get what it tried to do. It just could've been done in a more captivating way. I do not recommend this.
