maybe it was more of a 4/5 read - i definitely liked it a bit less than the first two books - but to fully express my love for this series, i have to give it a 5/5. sometimes the plot was a little weaker in this book. there's mina lange, the diamond, the fed program, cassel's and lila's romance... all those different plotlines aren't that elegantly connected, in my opinion. i can't help but feel like especially the mina subplot was added just so there was more story? they were all interesting enough so it didn't matter much, though. and i really like how everything came to an end. even though cassel's final decision makes me uneasy, it is actually the only possible solution. his journey is all about fighting for control and only by making that choice can he become free and live his life on his own terms. it doesn't matter that not everything is resolved perfectly. or rather, that nothing is really resolved. i think this kind of open ending fits the series really well. and also, cassel couldn't have become a good guy. it wouldn't feel right. but he's also not a bad guy. so this in-between-ending is perfect for him! in conclusion: the curse workers is one of the most entertaining fantasy series ever and i can't recommend it enough! if you like six of crows and urban fantasy, please read it. (it's a little older but doesn't feel outdated to me and has great racial diversity, too) ps. if someone's reading this who's read both - should i read the cruel prince? will i like it if i loved tcw? and if i don't really have any strong emotions towards fairy stories?

3,5 stars. I'm a bit disappointed by the end: It's so 'riding in the sunset, everything is good'. Also there are some loose ends and I would have liked to see more about those as well or see them resolved.
