Für mich persönlich war der Start des Buches einfach zu langatmig, vielleicht auch weil abwechselnd aus der Perspektive von zwei Personen erzählt wird. Die Hälfte des Buches war für mich ein „in die Geschichte reinkommen“, als es spannend wurde, nahm die Geschichte eine unerwartete Wendung. Dadurch wurde es auf jeden Fall interessanter, aber es war einfach nicht so mein Fall. Für zwischendurch ganz okay, aber ich würde es nicht ein zweites Mal lesen.

Lag leider viel zu lange auf meinem SuB, endlich habe ich es gelesen und fand den Aufbau der Story mega gut 😍 Hab mich total in beide Seiten versetzen können und jeweils total mitgefieber und am Ende bin ich kurz gestorben vor Schock, mega guter Plottwist 🤯🤯🤯 Kann man wirklich nur empfehlen, fande die Schreibweise und die Kapitel perfekt auch wenn der Anfang ein wenig langwierig war, war es am Ende trotzdem ein super tolles Buch 🥰

Das Buch war weder eins von den besonders guten, noch von den besonders schlechten Büchern, die ich bisher gelesen habe. Für mich persönlich war es etwas zu langatmig und hat sich gezogen, außerdem war einem zwischenzeitlich dann schon klar, was Sache ist. Die Thematik an sich fand ich generell allerdings jedoch recht gut und spannend, aber es hätte noch interessanter sein können. Es war also einfach nicht ganz mein Lesestil würde ich sagen. :) Die letzten 100 Seiten haben es dann noch etwas gerettet. Durch den Schlussteil und das Thema gibt es deshalb 3/5 🌟 für mich :)

“Are you being mysterious and odd, Kate Brady?” – “Mysterious and odd,” I confirmed. “It’s our family motto. Nescio et mirum.” The blurb doesn’t really tell you a lot about what is happening. Personally, I picked this book up because it is set in London and has a pretty cover. Also, secrets intrigue me. Not knowing what to expect is what threw me off a bit in the first 50 pages or so. But as soon as I fell in love with the characters, I was 100% in love with this book. “We men aren’t all bad. Some of us are actually quite pleasant.” And by “the characters” I mean all of them. I’ve never read a Lucy Robinson book before, but this has definitely not been my last. She has a way with words, but also a talent for scenes that let you see deep into a characters soul, main character, secondary character, animal or otherwise. It’s ridiculous how quickly and how hard I fell for all of them in this book. I don’t even like horses that much, but Mark made me feel right at home at his farm. Just like Kate. “They expect you to lie, Annie – and they lie right back.” Usually when the main character in a book keeps a secret, I get annoyed quite easily. There’s only so much foretelling, half-sentences and paraphrasing a reader can take. But with Kate and Annie, I didn’t mind it at all. Again just showing how great a writer Lucy Robinson seems to be. And when the secret was finally revealed, it hit me right into the heart. I hadn’t expected it at all. And what a clever plot twist it is… I doubt anyone would expect it. At least I hope not, it would ruin the whole experience otherwise. "Tick tock, tick tock. It wasn’t just the changing season, though. It was something else. Something bigger. You’ve stayed here too long, whispered the Bad Sh*t, as I pulled on some riding gloves. You’re going to get found out…" There’s not much I can say about the book without giving too much away. I did enjoy it a lot, it was a quick read but still enjoyable, heart-wrenching and heart-warming at the same time, and quite the experience. I do think however, that not telling readers anything at all in the blurb is a bit of a problem. I would have liked to know a little bit more about Annie and Kate. The jobs they were about to begin. I doubt that would have spoiled anything, it would however helped ease the reader into the story. "I loved travelling. I loved the landscapes, the big skies, the freedom. Most of all I loved the surprising feeling of safety it gave me. I’d hand over my rucksack at the check-in desk, pass through security and… there. It was as if my very soul breathed out. Suddenly I was just another girl, a nameless face in a sea of travellers." I subtracted one point/star for my confusion in the beginning. I almost wouldn’t have read on because it felt like such a weird book, not at all like what I had signed up for. But I would have so regretted not reading on. Definitely recommending this to anyone, it’s the perfect read for this summer.
