Ich bin wirklich nicht warm geworden, sowohl mit der Handlung, als auch mit der Hauptfigur. Ihre Handlungen sind für mich absolut nicht nachvollziehbar. Immer ist im Leben von Neve irgendwas los, ihre Rolle in der Familie ist mehr als fragwürdig, und so "nahbar" wie dauernd beschrieben wirkt sie nicht. Dazu dreht sich alles immer irgendwie im das gleiche, es braucht ewig, um Fahrt aufzunehmen. Das Ende hätte ich mir jedoch mit mehr Hinterfmgrund gewünscht...

Haven't read any Nicci French to compare or have a say in if this was one of the best books by her or not. But I have read books in this genre, and oh and, this book didn't quite stand out for me. The problem being: It is supposedly a thriller and a who-dun-it novel. However, throughout the book, I couldn't feel the urgency or wanted to solve the mystery as to who murdered Saul. Now, when that happens, is it any fun to read the book? I would also blame it on the main character, she was rather whinny & annoying and don't even get me started on Mabel. Ugh! The book was slow-paced and well the family drama was top priority than the mystery which got me to want to read the book. The twist, in the end, is nothing new seeing how and what the story was headed towards, it indeed was a smart move, which is what I enjoyed. I think if the last part was spread out and what Neve felt was condensed, it would have been a book I would have recommended to all!
