Jia Tolentinos Essays sind sehr klug, präzise und regen zum Nachdenken an. Kritisch blickt Tolentino auf die Gesellschaft, aber auch auf sich selbst, ohne dabei einen belehrenden Tonfall anzunehmen. Zu Recht nennen viele Kritiker*innen sie die Joan Didion unserer Zeit. Nach dem Lesen fehlten mir direkt ihre klugen Gedanken, um das aktuelle Weltgeschehen einzuordnen.

I began this book optimistically, enjoy the how the author's sociological analysis was packaged and contextualized. However, I was somewhat disappointed to not have more synthesis of these ideas between and following chapters; I was left feeling lacking for an integration of the author's arguments into a manifesto by their conclusion. In addition, the author notably skips over a crucial content warning for SA, making it difficult to recommend.
