Okay, uhm. I don't really know what to say ... First of all, the book description says: "An Enemies to Lovers Shifter, Vampire True Mates story." That's not true - not at all. We have a shifter (wolf) and a vampire and generally the species are "enemies" as is the case in many fantasy settings. The vampire, however, falls for his True Mate immediately and accepts EVERYTHING and the shifter is like "No, it can't be?!" for two days but then can't control himself and they are fully in Love and all is well. Ladies and gentlemen, this is NOT "Enemies to Lovers", this is "Oh fuck, my hormones are going berserk; I don't care anymore that our species are enemies". As I said, the two protagonists are instantly smitten with each other and can't help it either and once the "Oh no, he's a vampire!" problems are cleared up after what feels like three pages, it feels like it's all about sex (I'm not kidding, they're horny 24/7) and they're so deep in love that it comes out your ears. They also call each other "Babe / Baby / Mate / Beloved" all the time and I'm just cringing here. Is there a story? There is, but it gets totally lost between all the sex and the heart eyes and suddenly things are interspersed that are important for the story, but which were found out and settled somewhere deep between the lines that you can't even read into it. The climax of the book (the "fight" against the antagonist) was over after two seconds and then the next shifter was horny. End of book one. What has Audible thrown at my feet again? The audiobook is included in the subscription and I wanted to use it primarily to improve my hearing skills (which is why I will also listen to parts 2 & 3), but of course I always hope to stumble across something that captivates me. Unfortunately, that didn't happen here.
