Mariana Zapata ist die Queen des Slow Burn, das wir ja alle. Aber dieses Buch ist nicht nur slow sondern auch ein bisschen lame. Wenn ich Bianca noch einmal sagen höre, dass sie keine Umstände machen will... Von Anfang bis Ende hat sie immer das Gleiche abgespult. Und Zach hat ihr immer wieder die Bestätigung gegeben, dass er Zeit mit ihr verbringen will und sie hat es trotzdem nicht verstanden. Das ganze Drama um the Lazy Baker hätte man vllt.nlch ein bisschen ausweiten können (und stattdessen ein paar Wiederholungen streichen). Obwohl ich das Buch zum zweiten Mal am Wickel habe, blieb mein Herz kurz stehen als Vanessa mit einem Baby vor der Tür stand. Bis mir einfiel, dass es Vanessa aus The Wall of Winnipeg and Me ist. Als dann Zach und sein bester Kumpel vor Bianca geredet haben und sie literally nichts gecheckt hat, worum es geht, hab mir an den Kopf gehauen. So blöd kann man ja wohl nicht sein. Letztes Mal gab's noch 4 Sterne, dieses Mal nur noch 3. Ist einfach kein Vergleich zu Winnipeg &Me und Lukov. Auf zu Kulti ❤️ P.S. Ein Buch über Gunnar und ein Buch über Trevor möchte ich gern lesen. Zumal Trevor hier schon deutlich sympathischer schien als bei Vanessa und Aiden.

Friends to Lovers gepaart mit Slow burn. Ich bereue nur, dass dieses Buch sooooo lange auf meinem SuB gelegen hat. Ich hab schon lange nichts mehr gelesen, was mich derart in die Gefühlswelt der Protagonisten mitgerissen hat. Ich konnte es einfach nicht weg legen. Einziges Manko ist, dass die Gedankengänge von B. manchmal sehr verworren waren und man gelegentlich ein zweites Mal lesen musste, vor allem da ich es auf englisch gelesen habe.

This was a weird one for me… especially since I usually like the author. It felt very repetitive to me with way too much inner monologue that interrupted ongoing scenes. Firstly, the fact that the whole plot is based on miscommunication/no communication drove me up the walls! So immature and easily preventable it was annoying. Secondly, the dialogue often didn’t feel coherent to me and the characters regularly seemed to discover facts and thoughts that had already come up at earlier stages in the book, which just ruined realistic and solid character behavior for me. Honestly, at some points it felt like this book didn’t go through editing. Also… too many nicknames. And “kiddo” and “old man”?? Really? Ugh.

Mariana Zapata never fails me. This is the story of Bianca, who works at Maio House, now sold to a new owner that she hates (and for good reasons). She lives her quiet life until her cousin asks her to see her childhood bestfriend, who lives in the same city but she hasn't talked to in years. Said childhood bestfriend is Zac, a pro football player, in town for training. She goes to his house to tell him the news and from there, their friendship starts again, in spite of her doubts. I love this kind of slow burn, it's just so good to me. There isn't a lot of unnecessary drama, there really isn't any proper OW drama either. It's just pinning and longing and fear of heartbreak and I have chills. I really liked Bianca, she was really strong, the backstory that she had made a lot of sense and wasn't too much. Zac was awesome too. I loved all of the side characters and that we got to see some characters from previous books. Once again, a 10/10 from Ms Zapata
