Spicy Drama Trauma Sad Complicated It had everything in it and I really loved reading it Loved the ending

Loved by millions on TikTok but not by me 🥲
So I finally gave in to the TikTok hype and picked up My Dark Romeo, and I’m honestly still trying to figure out why everyone’s obsessed because I just don’t get it 😅 The whole time I was reading, I felt like slapping myself with the book every other chapter. Romeo literally steals Dallas from his enemy and forces her to marry him and then he proceeds to be the most disrespectful, emotionally constipated man ever for like 80% of the story 🙃 Like Dallas, girl, please. I was mentally trying to inject some self-respect into her every time she let him walk all over her. She knew he was trash and just stood there like 🧍🏻♀️ And off course by the end, in classic dark romance fashion, we eventually get a sob story about Romeo’s childhood trauma to “explain” everything, but by then I was already annoyed beyond repair. Like yes, I love a good enemies-to-lovers and forced proximity setup, but there was none of that here. Just a lot of unnecessary meanness and characters that felt more like plot devices than actual people. If the characters had even a smidge more personality or growth, this could’ve been a really compelling story. Sorry if I sound harsh 😅 but this book just wasn’t it for me. 2.5 stars for the drama, and because I wanted to love it… 🫢
Romeo? More like Manchild Supreme™ And that’s really all I’ve got to say. The book was boring. Like, painfully boring. And—let’s be honest—straight-up dumb. I think it officially lost me when the MMC somehow managed to break the FMC’s hymen via oral. Science? Logic? We left those behind somewhere around chapter two. The wild part? That was the most interesting spicy moment in the entire book. Which is tragic, because let’s be real: I wasn’t reading this for a Pulitzer Prize-winning plot. And thank god I wasn't because the plot was straight up non-existent. Gone for good together with logic after chapter two.
Explosiv. Ihre Wortgefechte? On point.
I really liked this book!! I liked to experience Romeo getting more and more comfortable with Dallas and sharing his trauma. I also think the book had a great entertainment factor. It was never boring
Leider abgebrochen
Erste 100 Seiten waren interessant.
Get yourself a man who is waiting in the cold in front of barnes&nobles to get your favorite book release

I had way to high expectations for this book because of all the good reviews I had read. It was good tho
Klar ist es stellenweise etwas over the Top.

Never gonna be able to find the right words to describe this book
If you like trash TV, you will love this book. I was only there for the drama and was thoroughly entertained 🤝
Alexa, find me a billionaire-asshole named Romeo Costa.
do i regret picking this book off the shelves? absolutely not. this duo writers did a fantastic job writing a modern day romeo (i guess?). i know that it's basically another billionaire romcom kind of book but this felt different than the ones we get these days. it's darker. the characters actually has personality, depths, motivations, etc. i really liked the way romeo was portrayed here. he wasn't just a hard-headed, possessive weirdo rich bitch and i loved that we got to see so many sides of him explained throughout the book. as for the fmc, i kind of have mixed feelings for her. felt like her personality kept changing every other scene but it was still manageable. there were some scenes where she got me screaming my head off but overall, not a bad fmc. i don't think we see a lot of female leads who actually wants to be a mother and have children and just basically build a family. this is kind of a fresh intake, since we've been getting a lot of job and career-driven fmc books, which don't get me wrong is not bad at all, but simplicity like this is very very rare these days and i actually do appreciate the representative. the modern day representations are just kind of weird for me. although, it didn't really bother me that much, but every time they mention something like TikTok or any trends just felt off. i never really liked having them in books. it makes them not timeless, idk. i mean, i heard, they were making a second book to this, which would probably be (my bet) a story about oliver and dallas' sister. i guess, i'll read it, it's not high on my priority list but i did enjoy it.
This is a true enemies to lovers story and a grumpy sunshine trope. I ate it up. I could not stop reading it. I loved everything about it. The backgrounds, the story line, the character development. I have laughed so many times and cried a couple of times. This was one of the best book journeys I ever had.
Oh Romeo
I never thought that the name "Romeo" could sound so hot
it's an enemies to lovers, forced marriage, cruel billionaire and feisty heiress romance. EVERYTHING I NEED .
LISTEN it‘s an enemies to lovers, forced marriage, cruel billionaire and feisty heiress ROMANCE so BIG YES the tension between them was just chefs kiss
it put me out of my reading slump<3
Had to get an account to tell you how f-ing frustrated I got while reading this book. Did I finish it? No I will skip to the epilogue and see what the hell is wrong with this thing, just know is skipped to the end at around 64%. I couldn't stomach the FMC nor the MMC anymore. They literally made me grind my teeths until they hurt. But starting with the FMC. Thanks to booktok, I shouldn't be adding books from there to my tbr list, because I will never get back the money I paid for this garbage. Also: FAT SPOILERS, YOU WERE WARNED! At first I liked Dallas, even though she got a horrible name, sorry for anyone with the same name I think you are a better Dallas than that FMC. BUT the further you get into the book, the more you dislike her. At first she wants to live her life without having to go through with an arranged marriage, same page she insists she wants to go through with HER arranged marriage to a guy she only talks to via a call about a month and only knows through family dinners. Then she wants to cheat on her fiancee because - YOLO, I want to live my life at least before I get shackled to a guy who doesn't want to be associated with me and openly cheats on me - next thing you know she is engaged to MMC and she has some serious daddy issues. Like in one scene she talks about how bad the underwaer of her dad is supposedly smelling, while trying to seduce her husband. Talk about TMI. But if you think 'alright HOW BAD CAN IT BE?' Let me tell you that she has the emotional age of a 13 year old. She drops out of college, which is fine, what ever flows with your goals. But her only goal, and might I add, the least developed goal is to become a MOTHER. Here as well whatever flows your goal. But she doesn't want a job to be atleast a bit independent from her husband, NOOOOOO, she wants to munch of of him. TALK ABOUT A FEMINIST WHEN ALL SHE DOES IS SITTING ON HER ASS AND BEHAVE LIKE A FUCKING TEENAGER! Mind you she is 21!?! With the emotional age of a teenager. Also she is so self centered, all she does all day is eating and reading smut books. No joke she is not interested to get a degree OR A JOB, considering she is throwing her husbands money left and right through the window. That's it, that's where you should see that she has issues that definitely need therapy, because her whole family lives apparently in 1940s considering she looses all her social standing, her friends are shunning her because of her little infidelity with her now husband and so on and so on. Now the MMC, Romeo. He is something else. Always planning how to get back at his enemies, who is, surprise surprise, Dallas's ex fiancee, as well as his father (well that one is understandable, considering he f-ed his sons ex fiancee) and the guy his father considers his first son. Now I don't mind him stealing her away from a cheating A-hole, but still he is 31, here as well, I don't mind the gap, all characters are adults they can do what they want. But can we please talk about how he has the same daddy issues? Like he wants to become CEO just to destroy everything his family ever built which i guess is alright considering his history with his father? And he let's his wife spent in a week a sum that must be several millions of dollars - according to how he has a loser streak with investing after he married her, and his friends making jokes that the mighty billionaire will become a millionare? Like maybe she should read those finance books he has staked in his office instead of reading smut all day. But ok at least it get's to a non-profit for SIDS. But still, women, that money is his, you decided a bit fun before marriage would be a nice thing to do and losing your credit card that daddy dearest gave you because of your decisions also get a job and stop muniching on your husbands money?! Now back to our ROMEO, he does not only have daddy issues, no apparently he also has trauma from being cheated on and some other trauma that I literally won't get to know because up until 64% he does not open up once about that happend. He is like a wall made of steel. He really is not communicating with her whatsoever. If he did talk more openly about why he does what he does, maybe I would respect him a tiny bit more but he does not. Quite sad for a 31 year old man, that made it apparently to CFO at 24. The biggest issue: They are TOXIC. Like you can't even begin how toxic they are. Instead of talking, opening up to each other, which they should be able to do, according to their age. THEY DECIDE TO CHALLENGE THEMSELVES. They are always threatening eachother with divorce, or ruining the others live for something as petty as saying no to a politcal statement even though your company is supposed to stay neutral. Yes his company earns money through selling guns and other war related stuff, but at least he understands that a company like that can't get political. She however doesn't understand even the tiniest bit. She has such anger issues that she smashes her phone whenever it freezes, instead of trying your typical solutions. As well as not getting a hang of social media and it's importance in this day and time. Makes you think about what she must post without a second thought about it. But also we ignore how Dallas is literally SA her new husband on the way to their honeymoon, because she was drunk? Or how she doesn't even consider what must have happend to her husband to say that he will let his family tree die with him? But Romeo is not better oh no. He takes her virginity and gives her false hope about thinking about starting a family. All that while he literally says that he can't stand her, but is also to into her to let her go and ruining her "reputation" at her debut ball. He has cameras everywhere in his house and spies on his wife all the time, be it through a bodyguard or his cameras, while he also instructed her to not leave the house and taking away everything if she misbehaves. That is his punishment when she doesn't behave. Now to the thing that made me buy it: the SMUT! It is horrible. As many before me stated, the most horrendous thing I have read in a while. Like the hell can he come and fill a VENTI with it, and then she is supposed to gargle it? THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU AUTHORS? The sex in itself is pretty basic, just your typical guy getting carried away at the prospect of unprotected sex with his virgin wife that he only did petting (you know the fooling around kind of stuff everyone did in freshman year with their first boyfriend where you didn't put it in and instead rubbed your parts on eachother? Yeah that's what they've been doing while honeymooning) with. Mostly, up until 50-60%, they only really start petting or use oral sex. Nothing more. It does really not get exciting. I've read better books with better smut than this piece of garbage.

Not the author duo i asked for… BUT DEFINITELY THE ONE I DESPERATELY NEEDED! Parker S. Huntington and L. J. Shen? Together? At first I thought it pretty random but nevertheless I like both of them. So I thought it can’t be bad, right? This book exceeded all my expectations. This book is literally a BANGER! I mean sure they went a little overboard with some scenes. too unrealistic. too out of pocket. but anyways. nothing i couldn’t stomach. The slow burn? Opposite attracts? The enemies to lovers? Arranged marriage? The fckn humor? I DEVOURED IT. Romeo is pure control while Dallas is pure chaos. She gave him HELL Naturally I loved the drama and the tension between them. It was fckn hot. Romeo was my undoing. A total asshole with a huge protective heart. The “my Wife” scenes were utterly delicious. “I’m going to make a pen holder out of your fucking skull if you so much as glance in my wife’s direction.” But honestly i LIVED for the group chats. Oliver, Zach and Romeo. I died of laughter. Their conversation were hilarious
