this is so good des beste buch des ich seit "a little life" gelesen hab i'm not ok
The Summer that Melted Everything is a very unusual book. It reminds me a bit of "To kill a Mockingbird" in the style and way the story is told. Tifanny McDaniel is an amazing author. Her writing style is exceptional and she delivers the story perfectly. It's a very deep and philosophical debut that focuses also on sensetive topics like homophobia, racism and religious extremism. Breathed is a little town in Ohio in 1980s where Fielding Bliss befriends the devil a.k.a Sal. There is a lot of prejudice and southern traditions that shows a dark era in which racismn is nothing unusual. It's a very emotional and intense read and I had to take a few breaks while reading it. I honestly see every good aspect in the book and I can't argue that the topics are important and that Tifanny presented them amazingly but I also had a few problems with the genre. I normaly don't read this genre because I have a hard time with it on an emotional level. But still, this books is great and I honestly recommend it if you enjoy heavy topics and magical realism. (I received an advance review copy of The Summer That Melted Everything from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.)
