Okay, this had no right to be this good. Honestly. I picked it up because I'm scared of long term commitments at the moment (let's pretend I only mean books, yeah) and this sounded kind of cute and short and perfect for that. And it actually was. I truly did not expect to like this - especially not as much, but this was a short novella, perfect for inbetween books, if you're in need of a bit of swooning and still some darkness. I highlighted quite a few passages of this because it somehow depicted a different view and perspective onto the living and death, but it also managed to portray a female mc in such a beautiful descriptive manner, that took me completely by surprise. “Because you talk to the fiends and ghosts when the world has cast them out and fears them, you reassure them, offer them company, and even crack jokes they thoroughly hate while you expect nothing in return." Tell me that isn't beautiful, I dare you. I'm not going to spoil this book for anyone by posting more quotes, but if you feel like you need something not entirely sweet but still heartwarming (even if achingly), then this might be the right pick for you, too.
