One Hot Summer is a collection of seven novellas featuring entertaining and heartwarming summer romances. I enjoyed each of the stories in the anthology; however, the focus of my review will be on Single in Sitka by Katy Regnery. I enjoyed this story for what it was, short, fun, flirty and entertaining. Amanda and Luke proved an interesting pair. Amanda’s relationship ended 5 months ago, while Luke has been a widower and single father of three for two years. From the moment they met sparks flew. They both wanted a no strings attached relationship, which should not be a problem as Amanda would only be in Sitka for two weeks. If only life was that simple. The more time they spend together, the harder it gets them to maintain their arrangement. Although the relationship between them developed rather quickly, I found their connection believable. They made an ideal match. The entire time I was rooting for their happily ever after. So you can imagine my disappointment when the ended so abruptly. However, after reading the author’s explanation for the abrupt ending, my level of disappointment has decreased to an extent. Conclusion / Recommendation Single in Sitka is a testament to the writing skills of Katy Regnery. Although this was a short story, there was enough substance to keep me engaged from start to finish. Now that I know the full story is releasing in October, I am eager to get my hands on a copy. That is how invested I am in the story and in the lives of Amanda and Luke.
