If Katniss was the main character in [b:A Deal with the Elf King|55285911|A Deal with the Elf King (Married to Magic, #1)|Elise Kova|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1602163059l/55285911._SY75_.jpg|86213600] then you would have gotten The North Wind. I liked it. Sadly I did not love it. This book had potential. I enjoyed the whole world setting! This was creative and well done. The plot was interesting and special but not too exciting or plot heavy. I’m eager to see what’s coming next with the next stand alone in this series. I also enjoyed the main character - Wren. She like I already said gave major Katniss vibes. Actually mix Katniss with Feyre and you get Wren. She masters archery in perfection. She gives everything and beyond in order to care for her sister. She cares for all human beings and sees the opportunity for redemption in them. She fights her own demons. I really enjoyed her as a lead. She is witty and doesn’t hold anything back. She doesn’t seem to know what fear is and fights fiercely for those she cares for. But she also is fighting her own battle against herself. And i must say I’ve never read a book where the mc was an alcoholic. This was truly something new but cool to read about. To see her slowly realizing that she indeed has a problem and her finally fighting against it. And a key figure for her achievement in getting over her addiction was… our love interest. The North Wind. The Frost King. Boreas. I thought it over and over and still dont really know what to make of him. I did not enjoy him in the first half. He annoyed me by only addressing her as Wife. This drove me nuts. But later on he not only slowly began to warm up towards Wren, he also melted my cold heart against him a bit. Which may have been the intention of the author. Experiencing it just like our mc is. So even though i didnt like him thst much at the beginning, he is written really good!!!!! I think my lack of excitement towards him was also heavily caused by the general execution if their romance. Because in the beginning there was none. I am a huge fan for slow burners and literal enemies to lovers [not the kind where he pretends to hate her but secretly loved her all along. But I love those too]. But this one was a bit… boring at times to read about? There was no real development and they didnt even really interact that much. But once they finally did I really loved their banter and them slowly growing attached. Her realizing that he isn’t as frosty as his title may presume. Him realizing that the witty wife he didnt want isnt as bad as expected. Compared to the sloooow beginning, the tension and spice in the end was all the better. And dang sweet towards the end. Hence me being indecisive - meeh in the beginning but a clear yes in the end. The general ending on the other hand was interesting. Compared to the overall plot pace a bit rushed and maybe not the mist exciting reveal and twists I’ve ever read hit decent. Overall I can say that I enjoyed this book. It’s great when you want some fantasy bit are not ready fir a heavy commitment into a series. It’s a quick and entertaining read with interesting and well done main and side characters. The pacing was a bit off at times especially in the middle part. But its still worth a read! You are in for an creative fantasy read with awesome characters and a slow but in the end absolutely fucking sweet and hot romance. And for me personally: the side characters alone are worth the read! Orla, Silas, Pallas and my personal hero Thyamine. They are all so sweet and supportive and added something good to the book! 4

Meh

Usw. Die spicy Szenen sind auch eher zu vernachlässigen.
