Fun with timelines and a whole lot of 'need to tie this up somehow' ending.

First of all, i am not into this hole thriller genre per se, but the way the timelines intertwine throughout the book as alternating chapters you cant help but feel the need to read on and see what happenes next and to do so you need to read at least the next unrelated chapter to the current timeline. The overall story was pretty fast paced. The recollection chapters of the original hike were a bit slow, which is why the - present moment - chapters were needed so much more. The ending however was far fetched. Yes it makes sense - I supose - but it is a far cry from anything I wished the story would play out. And hate the overall plottwist to my core. Overall probably worth a recommendation, but yet again, I have barely any experience with thrillers to gauge the actual quality of this one.
