The little details, Xie Lians past mistakes, that come back to bite him, Hua Chengs Ghost King attitude, the euphemisms and inuendos between them - I love it all! Xie Lian's rotten luck really is a driving force in the story and by trying to comprehend how the flowercrowned martial god became the scrap collector of today you can give yourself wiplash ... I can't wait to read more about their pasts and how HongHong-er managed to change his fate ... Enjoy! ~Rei

The story picks up right where the first volume left off. Xie Lian is sent to Ghost City to investigate a mysterious call for help - one that appeared as a massive fire in the sky. There, he runs into Hua Cheng (San Lang) again, and this time, he finally sees the Ghost King’s true face. Things escalate quickly: Xie Lian accidentally destroys Hua Cheng’s house and ends up having to flee. As the story goes on, we learn more about Xie Lian’s past and start to understand how the once-admired Crown Prince became a laughingstock after 800 years. We also get to see parts of Hua Cheng’s childhood - he was so adorable - and learn more about the shared history between them. Turns out, they’ve known each other a lot longer than Xie Lian realizes. Can’t wait to read the next volume!

Ich stelle mir die Musik aus der Serie vor, während ich hier schreibe. Ich falle tiefer hinein in diese große magische HuaLian-Bubble mit all den Figuren, langen Leben, tiefen Gefühlen und mit all den Traumata. Der Band war wirklich großartig und ich traue mich kaum, den nächsten Band zu lesen, weil ich nicht weiß, ob ich all das, was Xie Lian und Hua Cheng in der Vergangenheit erlebt haben, bewältigen kann. 😬 Ganz zu schweigen von dem, was wohl noch kommen wird. Aber ich mache es, denn ich liebe die beiden einfach zu sehr. In diesem Band begegnen wir einigen neuen und alten Figuren, darunter einem/einer wirklich sympathischen Shi Qingxuan, dem eindrucksvollen Heavenly Emporer Jun Wu, unseren streitlustigen Feng Xin und Mu Qing und dem vielleicht etwas kopflosen Lang Qianqiu, der eine neue Dynamik in die Runde bringt. Und vielleicht sollte ich noch Qi Rong erwähnen, den ich absolut nicht leiden kann. Nach Ghost City zu gehen und von Hua Cheng begrüßt zu werden, war wirklich spannend. What a Ghost King he is, dachte ich mir echt immer wieder. 🔥 Und so caring wie immer Xie Lian gegenüber. „I‘ll lend you as much luck as you want. I promise your opponent will suffer a loss so great he won‘t make a comeback for a hundred years.“ Jeder Moment der beiden ist einfach toll. Es ist schon wirklich Slow Burning, aber es geht Stück für Stück voran. „If you want to see me, it won‘t matter what you roll. I will appear.“ Xie Lian trifft auf einige Personen aus seiner Vergangenheit und wir erfahren mehr und mehr von seiner Backstory. Es ist schon herzzerreißend und auch schmerzvoll, wie sehr Xie Lian sich durchgekämpft hat und es ist noch nicht vorbei. Ein paar Mal wollte ich ihn einfach umarmen, aber zum Glück ist ja Hua Cheng da. “I’ve always had the feeling that you’re someone from my past and that you must’ve known me from my early on. […] When have I ever met a character like you?” Das wird Xie Lian sicher bald erfahren. Es geht mit dem letzten Arc in diesem Band in seine Vergangenheit und dem Beginn seines göttlichen Daseins und wohl seines Traumas…🙈😬

i am WAY less confused than during the first volume which made reading this so much more fun and enjoyable (can actually distinguish names and places now!!) 🙏🏼 the writing also seemed way better (or I am just imagining this but how do u not expect me to cry when she writes "but to some the very existence of a certain person in this world is in itself hope") and the story!!! THE STORYYY!!! i am so in love with the creativity and the flow of progression, everything seems so natural, nothing is rushed. we’re all just having a good time: fighting ghosts, arguing with the heavens and slowly falling in love 🤍

Ich finde es sehr schön wie die Bücher geschrieben sind und wie die Beziehung sich zwischen Xie Lian und Hua Cheng entwickelt. Leider ist das Buch an manchen Stellen sehr schwierig zu verstehen da man die ganze Sache mit den göttern und so in Englisch nicht ganz so leicht versteht. Trotzdem ein wunderschönes Buch🤩😍

The first volume was already great but there was still a bit of excitement missing but the second one delivered that shortly. The Ghost City Arc was just great, funny and exciting. Hua Cheng is definitely my favorite character and I love every conversation he is in. He is still very mysterious but you can already feel his deep love for Xie Lian even though nothing has been said yet. The second arc of the volume was a flashback to Xie Lians time as the crown prince and while I missed other characters it was also really interesting to see more of Mu Qing and Feng Xin in that time cause we had just heard about it till now. Qi Rong though, an absolute menace 😩 Definitely my least favorite character, just die already 👀 Also interesting was the description of the concept of fate at the end and I wonder how that will come into play cause it's certainly important. Can't wait to find out more in the next volume 🤍
