Not perfect, but addictive.

This was a fun, smooth ride, the mechanics, magic system, and world details kept me entertained, and there’s enough humor and progression to keep you turning pages. Joe is an engaging protagonist for the genre and the pacing never completely stalls, even if some bits feel more like setup than a fully formed plot. A few worldbuilding and character moments could’ve been tighter, but overall it’s a solid starter that makes me curious to read the rest of the series.
