A Journal of the Plague Yearby Daniel DefoeBibliotech Press
Angels with flaming swords, ghosts, sects, fortune-tellers, quacks, conjurers and all sorts of mountebanks emerge in response to the outbreak of the plague amidst the 17 Century in this semi-fictional account in which one can find several similarities with the current crisis: rich people fleeing in mass to their second homes, steadily-increasing bills of deaths which catch the government unprepared, similar lockdown policies, the bankruptcy of businesses... As a curiosity, the comet which is told to have presaged the misfortune of the plague is not the renowned 1P/Halley in 1682 but perhaps C/1664 W1.
