The story continues after the end of the Star Trek 2009 movie. The Enterprise is on its way to the edge of the galaxy with the ship not yet fully repaired. They encounter something left behind by the Valiant, a star ship that had the same mission as the Enterprise and vanished without notice. Once they discover it things go awry... A solid and enjoyable start to a story set between the 2009 film and the upcoming sequel. The story is off to a good start, the characters as they should be with great art (all though I found one drawing of an angry Kirk a bit too extreme). This is only the first part of the comic but I'm looking forward to the rest! Disclaimer: A review copy has been provided by the publisher through Netgalley.
Nope, not my cup of tea. It's extremely distracting that both eye and hair colour change all the time - and not in a way that could be explained by the different types of light on various settings. Also it's kinda ... well, boring. Of course one knows that the plots are stolen from TOS before reading it, as it was announced, but there are really very few changes to it, although most main characters have a completely different set of character traits in AOS that SHOULD make a difference. And the few changes are ... well, Spuhura is and will always be nonsense as Roddenberry made clear that Spock/Kirk is an issue. So using that as a plot device is a punch in the guts for classic Trek. (Apart from changing colours again and again throughout the story, the artwork is fine, btw. That was actually the best one could say about this Graphic Novel.)
