This series has got me hooked. I've only read part one a day ago and couldn't wait to read "A Thousand Letters". I am used to reading romantic comedies, and even though this one is a little different than the first part of the series, it caught my interest nevertheless. It's a story about life and loss, love and forgiveness, and most importantly, second chances. I didn't want to put this book down (only had to, to catch some sleep); I wanted to know what was going to happen. I loved the dynamic of the story and between the characters. What is this book about? Elliot and Wade were childhood sweethearts, who ended up splitting up when they were still young. After Wade left for the Army, they both had to deal with their loss and a split, that left them broken in so many ways. Regretting the choices they've made in the past, both could never totally heal. Unfortunately, horrible circumstances bring them back together: Wade's father is dying of cancer. As Wade's sister's best friend, Elliot is there, and her and Wade are reminded of the ghosts of their past. Their story is absolutely heart-wrenching. It's a mix of everything: a feeling of helplessness, anger, longing and need. Elliot's character has shown strength, while also being soft and vulnerable at times so that you just have to like her. Wade has found his way int my heart throughout the book too. Both of them are just so loveable, their story captivating. After enjoying Wasted Words so much, I was scared to start reading ATL but was proven wrong. I don't know how, but I loved this book even more than the first. It's a well-written, heart-breaking and exciting second chance romance, that makes you feel all the feels.
