A bit better than the 3.
Not going to write spoilers for this book, but I feel like this was written a bit better than the other 3. There was a flow I could follow.
I wasn’t as emotionally invested into this pairing as I was into Ceony and Emery, because Emery is just the type of man I prefer, but the main plot was just as interesting as the three books before. It reminded me a little of the industrial revolution line of discworld books, reading how in this world magic and science merge and magic does what science is not yet able to do. I‘d like to read more of this. Not only if Alvie’s theory is right, but also how the other magical materials work and what can be done with them. Just one thing left me a bit baffled: Alvie is a German name? I‘m German and never heard of it, but as we have many regions and many local names, that does not necessarily mean that Miss Holmberg is wrong. Might have just learned something about my own country - or rather names in here. :)
