Für mich ein absolutes Lese-Highlight. Von Indiana Jones-Vibes, ganz wundervollen Charakteren, politischen Intrigen, einer Art Aliens, untergegangenen Reichen, geheimnisvollen Morden und Mythen bis hin zu einigen unerwarteten Plottwists war alles dabei. Ganz besonders gefielen mir Lukan, ein Mann mit einem großen Herzen, der unter seiner Vergangenheit leidet. Trotzdem nicht nur der tragische Held, sondern einer, der auch einfach manchmal seine Klappe nicht halten kann und sich immer wieder in unangenehmen Situationen wiederfindet. Dazu seine zwei mutigen Gefährtinnen, die Lukan immer mal wieder aus der Patsche helfen müssen. Deren Dialoge mit vielen Sticheleien sind einfach so lustig. Ich werde jedenfalls sofort den zweiten Band beginnen, in dem die Schnitzeljagd weitergeht. Leider gibt es die Bücher bisher nur auf Englisch. Es ist aber einfach zu lesen. Eine klare Leseempfehlung von mir.

Heist story meets murder mystery meets ancient hidden history While this is not your big scale epic like the Stormlight Archive it is definitely a fun and deeply layered story in its own right! We follow Lukan, our friendly disgraced noble son, into the city of Saphrona where fabled merchant princes rule by day and by night the twice crowned king takes over. With trouble hot on his heels Lukan stumbles from mystery into escalation trying to solve the murder of his father, only to end up in a much bigger mess and political intrigue. I loved how the stakes just kept on rising and the action gripped me harder with every page I finished. What I probably loved most about this story was the hidden history - it is after all my favourite trope. Just like in “The Will of the Many” we get many hints at an ancient civilisation whose relics and artefacts are still being used (without knowing their actual purpose) - I sure hope @jamesloganauthor will deliver on all the little hints he keeps dropping and give as some more information about these Pharons Lukans dad studied. Because I need more!! But I also absolutely adored 👉🏼 how the book managed to stay lighthearted and fun in tone even tho SHIT went down and got worse with every page 👉🏼 the magic was rather dark and mysterious and gives us a lot of hypotheticals/possibilites in which direction this could go 👉🏼 the banter and found family vibes in the band of misfits we follow through the story 👉🏼 and the dark and gloomy vibes of the city and places we visit like catacombs, prisons, a city under the city (ruled by criminals), murders, creepy monsters and gods (?) - it all tied in so well together and formed a world I just wanted to sink into While this book had a consistent storyline there were so many awesome plot twists and surprises that changed the direction of the story in a way that felt very natural and expanded the horizon of the plot constantly. The writing was easy, the pacing high and I absolutely enjoyed just letting myself getting pulled right along with Lukan, Flea and Ashra. If you loved Swordcatcher or movies like Uncharted and enjoy fun adventure stories overall you will 100% love this book!

The fantasy novel “The Silverblood Promise'' by James Logan is the first installment in “The Last Legacy” series that follows the protagonist Lukan Gardova on his quest to uncover the mysteries around his estranged fathers murder. To accomplish this he has to sail to an unfamiliar city and team up with unlikely allies to uncover the political web in the city of Sephrona. This book was FANTASTIC! A fantasy book with a mystery at its core always captivates me but this book also had great characters. The protagonist’s backstory is interesting and parts of it are a mystery in itself which I can't wait to uncover. The most prominent side character was an amazing choice since they pose a great contrast to Lucan and the dynamic between them was entertaining and heartwarming. Furthermore there were also a number of other really memorable side characters that had interesting personalities and backstories. So on top of a great plot and characters there is also the wonderful world building and writing style. I'm honestly shocked this is a debut since it seems so polished in many aspects. The way the city of Sephrona unfolded with its political intrigue and different factions was captivating. I also enjoyed the interesting magical aspects and unique creatures that were mentioned. I had the pleasure to listen to this on audiobook and the narrator Brennock O’Connor did an amazing job. I hope he will continue to narrate the series because he was perfect for Lucan in my opinion! In addition I would like to point out the beautiful cover artwork by Jeff Brown. The style and mood of the piece perfectly capture the tone of the book! So if you like political intrigue, mystery, heists, magic and unique characters don't hesitate to pick this up! 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞 ist der Debütroman von James Logan und zugleich auch der erste Band in einer neuen Reihe. Dieses Buch reiht sich ein in diverse Neuerscheinungen, die mit dem Ｆａｎｔａｓｙ Ｍｕｒｄｅｒ Ｍｙｓｔｅｒｙ Thema spielen. Und, das muss man mal sagen, es ist optisch ein echter Leckerbissen. Das Cover verspricht große Epik, eine Wucht, die tatsächlich so in dem Buch noch nicht zu erkennen ist. Nichtsdestotrotz mochte ich die Geschichte sehr. Ich fand sie leicht im Einstieg, irgendwie beschwingt und humorvoll. Das Lesegefühl kann ich getrost mit dem bei den Riyria Chroniken von Sullivan vergleichen. Inhaltlich geht es natürlich um einen Mord am Vater von Lukan. Lukan schwört, die Mörder zu finden und sein Weg führt ihn in die imposante Metropole Saphrona. Dort lernt er das Mädel Flea kennen und gemeinsam entdecken sie eine große Verschwörung, die diese Stadt bedroht. Am köstlichsten waren die Dialoge zwischen Lukan und Flea. Das Mädchen ist so ein toller, kluger und ausgebuffter Charakter. Diese Dynamik hat dieses Buch im Wesentlichen getragen. Die Murder Mystery war ok, sicherlich nichts was die Welt noch nicht gesehen hat, aber ich mochte das alles durchaus. Unterm Strich: ein solider Debütroman, leicht zu lesen, unterhaltsam und Spass machend, leider keine Karte. Aber ich freue mich wirklich sehr auf den 2. Teil.
