“[My stories] ease the soul’s little boo-boos.” Is what the Grandpa says in one of the four little illustrated stories in this. And satisfying a reader’s meta needs, so did this book. We meet Yu’er and her Grandpa adventuring in their neighbourhood of Beijing. It is adorable and uplifting to read about, the fantastical spins to the stories are wonderful! With Yu’er there is a child with a crutch as our main character, which is lovely, especially because the book shows how easily the people around her accept and accommodate her disability. The Aquarell art is beautiful to look at, too! Would gladly read this with kids!
