This was really cute but wasted a lot of potential. The plot was mediocre, nothing original but entertaining enough. The author could've delved more into the topic of magic, how it works and the different kinds of it. There was a good basic approach to build upon. About the two MCs, I have mixed feelings ... I really like the grumpy yet vulnerable Rory who's quite endearing after you crack his shell. Arthur, on the other hand ... was too perfect to the point of being annoying. And him partaking in WW II wasn't credible for one second. But, even though the feelings got too serious and deep way too fast, I liked their relationship. They are pretty cute together. The ending was a bummer. Cliched villains and a predictable solution while the stakes never felt high.
