Maybe I'm just not the target audience.. When I started reading this book I really enjoyed it, but the further i got into it that enjoyment increasingly waned. The prose was beautiful at the beginning, but it felt like the author gave up half way through. There were times I was certain at times she switched what tense she was writing in! In the end I just could not fathom the point she was trying to make, and I'm certain she was endeavoring to make one. I don't want to go into details as I don't like giving spoilers, even to books I don't like. I got she was trying to write a modern day fairy tale in a classical style, but ultimately I felt it had way more style than substance.
