Gripping but not captivating

Once I was reading I was in. But it certainly wasn't a book I was anxiously counting the minutes until I could continue reading. Overall I enjoyed the premise and writing style centered around main character Beth and her investigation. The pace of the book was good even though there isn't a lot of plot. But Beth's racing thoughts give the sense of development. I also liked the anticipation of certain hints dropped in Beth's internal monologue that you then await to be revealed in full to you and the other characters.. That being said SPOILERS BELOW.. Really disappointed by the final resolution and the reveal in the last chapter in an explanatory dialogue with the villain. Feels like a kids cartoon.

First time in quite a while that I haven't been able to put a book down. Just when I thought the story had reached a dead end, and I was expecting the excitement to die momentarily, it would become even more intense, and something else would be thrown into mix. Very gripping read, and I would certainly recommend.
