A gorgeous, moving celebration of Blackness. Slightly heavy-handed at times, but the beautiful originality of the writing mostly makes up for it - Campbell does things with language that I've never seen anyone do before. And the narrative is absolutely steeped in subtle, naturally woven-in references to Black culture and history, if you can recognize them.
