Okay but this series is exactly what I’ve been looking for for sooo long! It’s fantasy! It’s romance, it’s a strong female protagonist (not exactly witch a sword but with a badass glass knife instead), and I am loving it. It has the drama of regency romances and the action of fantasy novels, and I AM HERE FOR IT! I DEFINITELY recommend this trilogy for people who like the infernal devices by Cassandra Clare or Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier EDIT Reread jan2023: Okay but there is sooo much foreshadowing I completely missed the first time reading this! Back then Selburn was just annoying, knowing what happens in the third book, he is just a plain out villain this time around - which of course makes this book so well-written because he might just be one of the characters I’ve hated the most (in the good way). Also Helen’s character development in this book alone? I love for it? And Helen and Carlston’s relationship? Pleaaase! The longing, the bawdy house, the betrayals! I’m a sucker for it sorrynotsorry
