Honestly, this book surprised me. At first I was thinking it would be a 3-star read, because I wasn’t really convinced in the beginning. The language felt a bit heavy and the narration style (omniscient, with lots of POV shifts and even little glimpses into the future) took me a while to get used to. But then I found myself really getting into it—I actually finished it in just four days, which I wasn’t expecting at all. I originally bought it just because I saw it at TKMAXX for 5 euros and thought it looked cute (and because I knew I’d want the whole series once the second book caught my eye 😅). But it turned out to be light-hearted, witty, and fun. The romance isn’t the main focus at first—it leans more into adventure—but by the end, the romantic thread really shines through and ties everything together. I don’t usually read historical romance, so this was a very different experience for me, but I ended up enjoying it so much more than I expected. Definitely a solid 4 stars!

i loved this so much. I laughed out loud too many times & the characters are all a work of art. Ned and Cecilia own my fucking heart & their love story is everything & makes me so soft & I just adore them - also the plot was a lot of fun as well. Still I can’t give more than 4 or like 4.5 stars since I had some trouble getting into the book & it only really hooked me in the second half. But this might be a a result of me not being a native speaker & in the beginning I kinda struggled with the writing and the words that were being used & therefore it took me some time to really get into the book. But I still really enjoyed it & cecilia and Ned will forever own my heart.

Das war nicht mal annähernd Peaky Blinders trifft Bridgerton. Das war eine typische 0815 „Enemies to Lovers“ romance mit einem Versuch Fantasy-Elemente (in Form von fliegenden Häusern anstelle von klassischen Piratenschiffen) einzubauen. Für mich war es leider nichts. Es passiert zu wenig und ist viel zu vorhersehbar.

Cecilia wird ein Mörder auf den Hals gehetzt. Ned hat den Auftrag sie umzubringen, nur kommt alles etwas anders als geplant. Es ist am Anfang etwas verwirrend, ganz besonders mit Neds Identität. Aber es ist so spannend und die Idee von fliegenden Häusern mit älteren Frauen als Piratinnen so unfassbar faszinierend 🤩 Mit jeder Seite hab ich es mehr geliebt, besonders die Situationskomik war genau nach meinem Geschmack! Es war einfach zu herrlich, dieser Humor, dazu spannend und Actionreich❤️ Eine Geschichte, die mich unglaublich begeistert hat😍 Jeder, der englische Bücher liest, dazu gerne in die viktorianische Zeit reist, gemischt mit Fantasy, Humor und Piratinnen, sollte sich diese Geschichte schnappen!

Stolz und Vorurteile trifft auf Fluch der Karibik" 😄 Die Vorstellung fand ich soo cool,😍 aber leider hat mich das Buch nicht überzeugt. 🙁 Während sich das wie ein Spaß voller Diebstahl, Schwertkämpfe und allgemeiner Boshaftigkeit anhört, war die Realität alles andere als das. Es gab mehr Tea-Parties als Kämpfe..🙈 Ich mag Fantasy, aber die fliegenden Häuser waren sehr seltsam und nicht gut entwickelt. Auch fiel es mir anfangs etwas schwer, mich in den Schreibstil hineinzufinden. Man muss aber sagen, hier und da hatte das Buch Witz und ließ mich schmunzeln. Auch Bontrë wurde zwischendurch erwähnt und zitiert, das mochte ich.😊 Ned konnte einem Schmetterlinge verpassen, aber auch nicht immer.. die Charaktere haben sich nicht gut entwickelt im Laufe der Geschichte. Was wir, die Buchwürmer, natürlich alle wunderbar finden ist, dass Ned für seine Geliebte eine Bibliothek gestohlen hat.😍😄 Den Bösewicht zu besiegen ging auch recht flott.🙈 Ja, ich weiß auch nicht.. das Buch hat mich einfach nicht gepackt. Und dennoch ziehe ich es in Erwägung den zweiten Teil zu lesen😅.
