I had really much fun reading this book (most of the time) 😅
Ari Lancaster - the duality of this man needs to be studied: A total psychopath but with the funniest humor and the craziest golden retriever energy ever… I really had to laugh out loud at some of the scenes of this book because of how random and fucking hilarious they were. Sometimes i couldn’t believe what I was reading 🤣 But not everything about this story was funny, because there was a really strong emotional depth to it that I actually really liked. Blake’s character is portraited really well and I was able to empathize well with her feelings and situation. Her backstory is really tragic and extremely sad and had me emotionally invested! I do have to say, though, that even though I truly think these two are perfect for each other, there were a lot of aspects of this book I didn’t like—starting with Ari’s literal obsession with her. I understand it, and you can really tell that he loved her for a long time and that he didn’t want to wait any longer once he finally found her, but the things this man did were still not okay. I’m so glad Blake held him accountable for that, but it still kind of left a bad taste in my mouth… Their relationship development also felt very fast and rushed to me, which I do understand, but it still wasn’t really something I enjoyed. The spice, though, was really nice, and the mouth on this man genuinely surprised me—it was definitely filthier than I expected, both in what he said and in the spice itself 🥴 It’s not the best book I’ve ever read and it definitely has its flaws, but I still had a really good time reading it. The humor is honestly the best part, so if you want to laugh and be sad at the same time, this book is for you!
