Man würde es auf den ersten Blick nicht glauben, aber Hannah Brook ist Bodyguard. Und nicht nur irgendein Bodyguard. Nein, sie gehört der Top Elite an. Was auch gut ist, denn der gefeierte Filmstar Jack Stapleton benötigt dringend ihren Schutz. Er besucht seine kranke Mutter in Texas und muss vor einer verrückten Stalkerin geschützt werden. Allerdings möchte er nicht, dass sich seine Familie noch mehr Sorgen macht und erzählt ihnen deshalb nichts von der Gefahr. Damit er auch Hannah nicht als Bodyguard vorstellen muss, geben sich die beiden als Pärchen aus... Ein wunderbares, sehr humorvolles Buch mit einer tollen Message am Ende und einem großartigen Schreibstil. Ich habe mir weitere Bücher von Katherine Center gleich auf die Wunschliste gepackt! Große Empfehlung!

Wer hier eine realistische Romcom erwartet, wird “enttäuscht”. Das Buch ist definitiv mehr Comedy als Romance! Zwar kommen zwischendurch auch einige ernstere Themen vor, im Großen und Ganzen ist es aber eher albern, lustig und ziemlich fast-paced. Es soll als Film erscheinen und genau so fühlt es sich auch beim Lesen an! Viele Elemente sind “typisch Romcom”, weshalb man nichts allzu Überraschendes erwarten sollte. Dadurch lässt sich das Buch sehr schnell lesen, was aber auch stark am Schreibstil liegt. Ich musste mich anfangs erst daran gewöhnen, weil alles sehr schnell hintereinander passiert und erzählt wird, aber das ist definitiv so gewollt. Ich denke, dass mir der Film sogar besser gefallen wird… Ich kann mir gut vorstellen, dass die Story als feel-good Film mehr Spaß macht, als sie zu lesen.

Eine Rom-Com mit viel Gefühl und kleinen aber sehr bedeutenden Details. Wenn man das Cover ansieht und den Klappentext liest, dann erwartet man es zwar nicht, aber es wurden einige sehr wichtige Nachrichten durch die Story rüber gebracht. Themen wie Trauerbewältigung, Selbstliebe, Unsicherheiten, die Bedeutung von Familie und Liebe usw. wurden hier behandelt. Die Charaktere sind alle sehr liebenswert. Manchmal waren einige Situationen und Dialoge teilweise echt unrealistisch, aber da konnte ich ein Auge zudrücken. Ist schließlich bei Rom-Coms öfter der Fall. Oh und ja - es gab keinen spice! Fand ich wieder mal seeehr erfrischend und die Autorin hat auch ganz gut gezeigt, dass man eine schöne Verbindung zwischen den Charakterern auch ohne spice schreiben kann. Eine warme Leseempfehlung.

Das war mein zweites Buch von Katherine Center und ich fand es richtig toll 🥹 Der Schreibstil hat mich total an Sarah Adams erinnert, weil das Buch einfach diesen typischen Romcom Vibe hat. Die Charaktere mochte ich super gern und besonders die Entwicklung der Protagonistin hat mir richtig gut gefallen. Einzig ein bestimmter Plot hat mich ein bisschen rausgebracht, weil er mir leicht übertrieben vorkam. Alles in allem ein richtig schönes Buch, das man total schnell weglesen kann!

Usually, I have to push myself to keep reading at first, but this time I actually wanted to keep going and see what would happen next. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because, while it was a fun and enjoyable read, it didn’t completely captivate me. I liked it, but it didn’t feel especially unique or memorable. That said, I do recommend it

Despite its promising frame work—a tough, professional female bodyguard protecting a famous male actor—The Bodyguard didn't quite nail the execution. The protagonist repeatedly insists on how capable and badass she is, yet her behavior often demonstrates the opposite. From fangirling over her client to showing off her shooting skills to impress the client’s father to bursting into tears after being yelled at, she seems more childish and ego-driven than professional and calculated. Really, she is supposed to be the protectir and ends up beeing the damsel in distress! The characters as a whole lack depth; they hint at emotional layers which is just not conveyed through the pages. The plot, too, feels thin, whith a situation towards the end that feels like a last attempt to inject tension into an otherwise flat storyline.

A very sweet, heartfelt slow-burn romance. The perfect blend between an easy, fun read and a slowly developing romance full of emotions and charm. This novel is a light read for in-between while also addressing more serious issues; ideal for summer or when you need a heartwarming, fun book.

This was the most unexpected 5 star read. Don’t know what crack was in this book, but it was un-put-downable. I haven’t laughed and squealed like this for a book in forever. It had the rom-com vibes and made me feel all giddy inside. And then suddenly it became one of the three books to have every made me cry. Hannah is my new favourite girl. An FMC that is relatable, lovable and totally badass. Usually have qualms with female leads, but not with her. Loved the fact that she was the bodyguard. Her explaining the ins and outs of her job was super interesting and fun. Jack delivered as well. He was so sweet and I love that he was kind of dorky at times. He was the sunshine character but not in the usual way. He, just like Hannah, felt fully fleshed-out. Loved how with every chapter a layer got peeled away and he became more and more lovable. I was swooning so hard. The romance was relatable and honestly it wasn’t lacking in any sense. I loved the development and the way they open up to one another. Fake-dating remains superior. Jacks family also was the sweetest and I really want to join them for Thanksgiving now. The writing style was surprisingly refreshing and had a great pace. I need to re-read this and take my time with it, because it went way to fast. Literally recommended this to my mom, and that‘s saying something.

Hmmm to be honest I don’t know what to think about this book. Firstly, there will be spoilers! And normally my reviews are very long and detailed but I’m kinda sleepy rn cause I was working the whole day. I went into this book with some expectations but i just wasn’t vibing with it😭. Everything happened so fast and the chapters also kept cutting off so we would just jump from one action/scene into the other. I also didnt reallyyyy feel the chemistry between them, like idk they were so cute at the ranch house but a lot of things were just kinda too much in my opinion. For example, Jack said he never laughed but laughed at every single thing that Hannah said to him even though it wasn’t that funny and it just kinda was too much🥲. I liked Jacks Mother and Father, they were very cute together but also just generally really great people. Robby (Hannah’s ex), Taylor (Hannah’s 'best friend' who betrayed her and fucked & fell in love with Robby) and Kennedy (Jacks 'girlfriend' ) were just getting on my fucking nerves constantly aka the whole book, I just couldn’t stand them😭😭. I’m also happy Hanks (Jacks brother) and Jacks relationship got better. I guess it was kind of a plot twist (?) to find out that Jack hadn’t been behind the wheel when Drew died but Drew himself. I’m glad they got their happy ending and even got married! I was so excited when I got this book because it sounded interesting for the ‚stereotypical roles' to be reversed, basically for the woman to be the bodyguard and the man being the one protected. But yeahhh i just don’t even know what to say to be honest and I’m trying not to sound mean but I guess it just didn’t catch me enough. I’m gonna go now to try to sleep cause I’m sleepy as hell😭 Hahah

Die Booktuber die ich schaue haben Katherine Center immer in den Himmel gelobt. Endlich; und einfach so, habe ich vorgestern dieses Buch zur Hand genommen und einfach angefangen. Es war von Anfang bis Ende leicht zu lesen und ich kam schnell durch. Man hatte keine Momente der Langeweile. Die Charaktere sind mir sehr sympathisch und der Aufbau hat mir auch gut gefallen. Ich hätte gerne mehr von der Professionalität gesehen, die mehrfach erwähnt wurde. Unser FMC wurde merhfach als "eine der Besten" beschrieben, doch wirklich erlebt hat man davon nichts. Die Plots waren leider alle vorhersehbar, bis auf 2-3 kleine Geschehnisse. Das hat dem Buch aber nicht an Spaß genommen. Zum Ende ist etwas meiner Meinung nach unrealistisches passiert und es hat wie erzwungene letzte Spannung gewirkt die gar nicht unbedingt nötig war. Über das gesamte Buch hinweg habe ich glaube ich mehr lauthals gelacht als sonst über irgendein Buch. Ich bin mir nicht mal sicher, ob sie lustig sein wollte, aber es war irgendwie sehr unterhaltsam für mich. Es ist sehr Dialog-lastig, weshalb ich nicht allzu viel zu dem Schreibtil selbst sagen kann. Er war angemehm und die Perspektive war gut überlegt, aber das wars. Nichts besonderes. Dennoch hat es mein Interesse an der Autorin geweckt, ich werde noch in andere ihrer Bücher reinschauen :)

Ach, leider hat mir diese RomCom nicht so gut gefallen. Ich habe sie zwar in einem Stück durchgelesen, habe aber durchaus ein paar Seiten geskipped. Positiv hervorzuheben ist, dass beide Charaktere green flags sind, beide ihre Probleme haben, aber sie auch verbalisieren. Keine nervigen Missverständnisse oder Streitereien. Was mir leider negativ aufgestoßen ist, war ihre absolute Unfähigkeit in ihrem Beruf. Sie trifft jedes Ziel mit der Pistole, hat aber Angst vor Kühen. Sie kann einen Mann umnieten, rennt aber in den Wald mit Sandalen und muss sich dann huckepack nehmen lassen. Sie kann sich leise durch Wohnungen schleichen, lässt aber dann den Wind Türen zuknallen. Dadurch, dass er sie dann immer retten musste, wurde der „Sie ist Bodyguard“ Trope irgendwie ins Lächerliche gezogen. Naja.

ABSOLUTES HIGHLIGHT! 💛 Ich liebe, liebe, liebe alles an diesem Buch! Die Tropes sind eine total spannende Mischung - sie ist sein Bodyguard, er ein Filmstar und es kommt auch noch Fake Dating vor. In die Protagonisten hab ich mich schockverliebt, vorallem Jack ist ein absoluter Traum-Bookboyfriend. Der Humor hat mir absolut gut gefallen und es ist einfach genau die RomCom mit tiefen Emotionen, die ich liebe. Ein absolutes Highlight für mich und für jeden der RomComs mag, ein Muss!!

Mal eine etwas andere Liebesgeschichte, die einfach nur schön war. Nicht immer das arme schwache girl, das vom Typen gerettet werden muss, sondern eine starke Frau, die durch ihn lernt, auch mal Schwäche zuzulassen. Ich habe all die kleinen Momente zwischen Hannah und Jack geliebt und mochte die etwas andere Rollenverteilung sehr gern. Ich mag den Fake dating trope sowieso schon gerne, wusste aber nicht, wie sehr ich auch slow burn mögen kann. Katherine Center hat mir auf jeden Fall auch das schmackhaft gemacht. Ein sehr angenehmer Schreibstil, hier und da was zum Schmunzeln, aber auch tiefgründige Themen. Einfach eine feel-good und wholesome (gibt es dafür passende Übersetzungen auf deutsch??) Romcom, die ich jedem Romance-Liebhaber empfehlen würde.

The Bodyguard hat mir einfach totale 90s RomCom Vibes gegeben! Der Schreibstil war locker und lustig und ich hatte echt viel Spaß beim lesen 😊 die Charaktere mochte ich alle einfach super gerne, der Plot am Ende war auch super und über Happy End könnte ich schwärmen 🤩 Kein Ort ohne Dich meets Hollywood! Und so toll dass sie ihn beschützt 😉

Humorvoll und trotzdem tiefgründig. Die Geschichte von Jack und Hannah hat mir wirklich sehr gut gefallen, Hannah hat sich emotional so weiterentwickelt. Ich kann es jedem empfehlen, der vor allem mal eine andere Rom Com lesen will. Denn ganz ehrlich, dass sie sein Bodyguard ist gibt es auch selten ;)

Meine Bewertung: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Ein unfassbar geniales Buch das jeder RomCom Liebhaber gelesen haben sollte. Die Geschichte ist unfassbar spannend und obwohl es nur aus Hannahs Sichtweise geschrieben ist, merkt man jede Emotion der beiden Charaktere. Ich hätte mir gerne mehr 1 on 1 time der beiden gewünscht um ihre Beziehung besser noch mehr zu verdeutlichen aber ansonsten wirklich ein geniales Buch!!!!

Ein Buch welches ich als Abwechslung zu den ganzen Fantasybüchern ausgewählt habe. Ich hatte es auch recht spontan für nur 0,99€ als eBook gekauft (auf Englisch) und dann auch direkt gestartet. Es stellte sich als super Buch für zwischendurch heraus, sehr viele Klischees trafen auf eine süße slow burn Liebesgeschichte. Einmal angefangen konnte man das Buch nicht mehr aus der Hand legen. Kein hochtrabendes literarisches Meisterwerk, dennoch ein gutes Buch. „There's nothing like the mutuality of a hug-the way you're giving comfort but you're getting it, too."

I love this book so much. It’s funny but not shallow. It’s deeper than expected but not dark. The author said that this was her pandemic book and that she wanted to write a book that was as light as possible, and indeed it is. There is just enough drama that the plot doesn’t get boring, the characters are hilarious, and I felt constantly entertained without feeling like the story was dumbed down. It reminds me of Meg cCabot’s witty sarcasm with a kickass heroine and hilarious side characters. The pandemic may be over, but can we have more of this please?
