2 Stars ⭐️ This book had great ideas, but it wanted to much and ended up confusing and like a mix of a lot of mediocrity. I was excited to solve a mystery with the characters but the mystery took such a backseat over the course of the book that I lost all interest in it. It already took the first 30% of the book for the mystery game to start and than the deaths of some characters overshadowed it. And those deaths weren't even ruled as murderers. Instead everyone tried to tell the guests that it was an accident. And I wasn't even mad about it at first. But when a second person died and they called it an accident again, it just got repetitive. [SPOILER WARNING !] At the end they also threw in that the Midwinter Trust and some of the charactere spies - why?! That came so out of the blue and didn't add much to the mystery of who was killing the people in the village. The story wouldn't have changed without it and it only kept making everything more confusing and as the reader, I also didn't believe it. In the end, I only finished it because I had already invested so much time into this. Not because I actually care to solve the mystery game or the killings taking placw in Midwinter.

Als dann doch ein echter Mord im wilden Schneetreiben geschieht, ist sich keiner mehr so sicher, was hier wirklich gespielt wird. Was hat das Ganze zu bedeuten? Wer ist der aalglatte Chef, Jeremy Vendell in Wirklichkeit? Wurden wir tatsächlich zufällig vom Midwinter Trust ausgewählt? Bin ich hier noch sicher? Diese und viele weitere Fragen müssen nach und nach von den Leser selbst gelöst werden, wenn er das mörderische Spiel in Midwinter gewinnen und überleben will! So einen Roman habe ich noch nie gelesen und von Martin Edwards, dem hochdekorierten Autor, noch nie gehört. Die Lesestunden waren vergnüglich und rätselhaft, sodass ich mich auf die Suche nach weiteren Büchern von Edwards machen werde!
