The comp to Buffy was high stakes - basically impossible to live up to - but I still enjoyed Death's Daughter a lot. The story of Jo, the daughter of Death, trying to live a normal life while being pulled into a world of ancient gods and supernatural power struggles was intriguing and at times really unique. Both the world and the characters were well fleshed out, and I loved that things didn’t stay on the surface. The twist that she feeds off human failure rather than souls was truly unique and made for a lot of conflict - both internal and external. I also enjoyed the audiobook a lot. The narration was fantastic, making the experience even more immersive. I devoured this in almost one sitting due to the compelling narration. A strong start to a new series with a fascinating premise and a protagonist I couldn’t help but root for. 4/5 stars. Thank you to @NetGalley and @Macmillan.audio for the eARC! #DeathsDaughter #SABarnes #Bookstagram #NetGalley
