Thanks to NetGalley I got the earc to write a review anf the first 20-30% I was really struggling. It’s been quite some time since I read the first book and with 100 books a year one tends to forget some stuff. So I had a hard time finding back into the story especially with all the characters and storylines. The story wasn’t going anywhere too which had my thoughts on doubt. But then the pace picked up immensely, so much things were set into motion and not only Bristol’s adventure advanced also her mission considering her family. Every now in then we got some Tyghan-Bristol time with was nice. When the fighting started and not only physically but verbally, this book made my heart hurt and I was crying silent waterfalls in the middle of the night. The ending…. I wasn’t prepared for it and at first noooot at all happy with it. As in my head I was riding towards the sunset, but didn’t saw the arrow flying towards me piercing me straight through the heart - and yes you guessed right, more tears were spend on my part. Even though I’m still not too happy with the ending, I think it’s something I can and must live with, but the wounds still fresh so time will tell. A wonderfully exciting and heart-destroying duology.

Love, duties, secrets & loyalties With book 1 I had been completely intrigued in the first half of the book, and then the story lost me a bit towards the end. With The Last Wish of Bristol Keats, it's the other way around. The early chapters felt a bit slow, but the back half of the book delivers real emotional payoff. Again I found Bristol somewhat aloof at first, but she really shines in her interactions with Tyghan — their chemistry and banter ultimately made me root for them. Twists, personal growth, and the way the characters navigate their choices had me fully hooked, and everything concludes in a way that feels satisfying (albeit slightly rushed). It's a really good romantasy and a strong finale to this duology. If you enjoy character-driven romantasy with all the dark secrets of Elphame, this is a solid and rewarding read. I was super lucky to have been approved for ebook and audiobook both, and it remains my favourite way of reading a book.
